Horiana Irwin - Regional Representative Te Whanganui-a-Tara
Horiana is of Ngati Porou, Rakaipaaka and Ngati Kahungunu descent. Horiana graduated from Victoria University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Maori Resource Management and was admitted to the bar shortly after.
Whilst at University Horiana was awarded the Maori and Polynesian Higher Education Scholarship from the Maori Education trust, a Ngarimu VC and 28th (Maori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship from the Ministry of Education and a Ngati Kahungunu education grant which helped her through her studies.
After finishing University, Horiana spent 2 years at Russell McVeagh in Wellington working in the Litigation, Resource Management and Maori legal teams. Horiana now works at Kahui Legal in Wellington specialising in commercial and civil litigation.
