Co-President & Regional Representative - Te Tai Hauauru
Liana is of Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Ngati Maniapoto and Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi descent. She commenced practice with Russell McVeagh in Wellington and worked for several years in their Maori Legal, Litigation and Public Law teams prior to joining Kahui Legal in January 2008.
Liana has extensive experience representing iwi groups before the Waitangi Tribunal Waitangi Tribunal, where she acted in the Aquaculture, Te Tau Ihu, Wai 262 Flora and Fauna, Foreshore & Seabed, National Park and Whanganui Inquiries, as well as appearing in the Maori Land Court. Liana also provides advice to clients in the areas of Treaty settlement negotiations, corporate and iwi governance and public law issues.
Liana is currently on secondment from Kahui Legal to Taranaki Iwi where she is managing the historical settlement negotiations process for one of her own iwi.
